Increased Tariffs on Aluminum & Steel Imports
Effective June 4, 2025, the United States has raised tariffs on certain aluminum and steel imports from 25% to 50% following a Presidential Proclamation. This update affects multiple industry sectors, requiring immediate adjustments in trade strategy. Notably, UK-origin steel remains at a 25% tariff.
Additionally, under Executive Order 14289, new guidance establishes a hierarchy for tariff application, impacting imports such as auto parts, aluminum, steel, and select economic measures tied to Canada and Mexico.
