CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION PROVIDES GUIDELINES FOR MARKING GOODS FROM HONG KONG
An Executive Order was issued on July 14, 2020 officially suspending the preferential economic treatment for Hong Kong due to the determination that Hong Kong is no longer sufficiently autonomous to justify differential treatment in relation to China.
Today, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published guidance in the Federal Register for importers stating that effective September 25, 2020 products made in Hong Kong must be marked to indicate that their origin is "China" for purposes of 19 U.S.C. 1304.
